Menlo College is located on the San Francisco peninsula in the town of Atherton, a well-appointed residential community near the cities of Menlo Park and Palo Alto. The area ranks among the most attractive and dynamic in the world, with numerous cultural resources, temperate climate and all that the San Francisco metropolitan area can offer.

Returning as director is Menlo College's Head Coach, Mark Kaanapu or Coach K as his players call him. In his seven years as head coach of the Oaks, Kaanapu has coached three All-American and four All-West Region players. In addition, 2001 graduate Nate Jackson is the first Menlo player to be selected in the NFL Draft and has been playing for the Denver Broncos for the past 2 years. This past year, the Menlo Oaks football team joined the Northwest Conference and had nine players awarded All-Conference honors.

Prior to assuming the head coaching posiiton, Kaanapu was apart of the Oaks coaching staff on two different occasions. He first joined the coaching staff in 1996 as the offensive line coach and Recruiting Coordinator. In 1997, Kaanapu was promoted to assistant head coach while continuing his work with the offensive line as well as coordinating the Oaks recruiting efforts.

Kaanapu's next stop brought him to his first head coaching position at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill CA (1998-1999), where he led the Acorns to a semi-final playoff appearance. Kaanapu was then hired to coach the offensive and defensive line for the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League (2000). The SaberCats won the Western Division Title for the second time in team history while 'Coach K' was with the team. Kaanapu returned to Menlo in the fall of 2000 and took over his original position as the offensive line coach, where three of his offensive linemen received post-season honors.

Coach Kaanapu began his coaching career as the run game coordinator and the offensive line coach at Pacific University where as a player, he was selected Second Team All-American by the College Football News (1989). Kaanapu then became the offensive line coach at West Valley College (1991-1995). At the University of South Dakota, Mark was the assistant recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach (1995-1996).
