Mark Robichaud

During his seven seasons on the Corsairs sideline, Robichaud has mentored 30 all-conference selections, including the 2010 New England Football Conference Offensive Rookie of the Year in Jaron Hargrove.  UMass Dartmouth has garnered regional distinction under his watch, when John Cordasco was named to the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North, second-team and J.J. Harold was selected to the 2007 D3Football.com All-East Region, second-team. 

The Corsairs have also prided themselves on the fulfillment of the Division III philosophy, providing student-athletes with a well-rounded educational and athletic experience.  Under his direction, UMass Dartmouth has received a total of 57 All-Academic Team citations.  Two Corsair student-athletes earned Capital One Academic All-District honors, most recently when Nick Hiou was named to the 2012 team.

In 2013, UMass Dartmouth posted an overall record of 3-6, including a 3-5 mark in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.  Robichaud led his charges to home victories over Plymouth State, Bridgewater State, and Worcester State to place sixth in the program’s inaugural season in the MASCAC.  The wins over the Bears and Lancers produced two strong individual performances.  Sophomore Derek Tarpey registered a career-high 22 tackles to spearhead the Corsairs defense past Bridgewater State, while freshman DaVon Fuller established a new single-game program record with four interceptions against Worcester State.        

Prior to joining the UMass Dartmouth coaching staff, Robichaud served as an assistant coach at Bishop Stang High School since 2004.  During his tenure with the Spartans, Bishop Stang captured two Eastern Athletic Conference championships, two Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff berths, and an appearance in the 2005 MIAA Superbowl.

In 1992, Robichaud began a nine-year stretch at Shepard University, a NCAA Division II perennial power in West Virginia, serving as defensive line coach, recruiting coordinator, and athletic-academic advisor.  Robichaud helped the Rams compile an overall record of 54-31 (.635), eight winning seasons, five West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, and three NCAA Division II tournament appearances, including advancing to the second round twice.

Robichaud, a 1985 graduate of Springfield College, sandwiched a pair of stints at his alma mater around a stop at Milford Academy.  He also served as the inside linebacker coach at Wesleyan University (Conn.) before accepting the defensive coordinator post at the University of Chicago.  Robichaud also gained valuable experience as an assistant coach at Division I Brown University during the 2000 season.
